Firenze:

To drive to Firenze, go to Poggibonsi and take the motorway to Firenze, at the end of the highway, you enter the centre and follow signs to the centre or Santa Maria Novella (SMN) train station in the heart of city. At the station, there is a very large underground parking. From there you can walk to the centre. Otherwise we suggest you to catch the bus from Poggibonsi, the bus station is situated next to SMN station and therefore very close to the centre. Very important in the Middle Age, it was the capital of the Granducato di Toscana, under the rule of the Medici and Lorraine Families. It was the capital of Italy from 1865 to 1870, after the unification of the Country. It was declared by the UNESCO heritage of the Humankind, it is considered the place of origin of the Renaissance, and recognized as one of the cradles of art and architecture and one of the most beautiful cities in the world thanks to its numerous monuments and museums: the Duomo, Santa Croce, the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti. The Duomo of Florence and is the result of the work of several artists, such as Arnolfo di Cambio, Giotto, Brunelleschi, Andrea Pisano, who worked there from the 1296. The great Dome of the Duomo planned by Brunelleschi was undecorated but painted later by Giorgio Vasari and Zuccai, between 1572 and 1579. The Bell of the Cathedral was begun by Giotto in 1334. Piazza della Signoria is one among the most beautiful squares of Italy, here is Palazzo Vecchio, which was begun in 1294 and designed by Arnolfo di Cambio, and the Palace is characterized by the tower above it. The Uffizi Gallery is the most distinguished Museum of Italy and one among the most famous all over the world. The Medici ordered to Vasari to build it, it was designed to become administrative and judicial offices. The Galleria will consist of 45 rooms divided into sections, the beautiful Corridoio Vasariano, built by Vasari in 1565 and joining the Gallery to Palazzo Pitti. Palazzo Pitti is the most magnificent Palace in the city, probably designed by Brunelleschi and dating back to 1457. Ponte Vecchio is the oldest bridge in the city. Very nice also the Giardini di Boboli, which is the largest green and monumental space of the city and Piazzale Michelangelo, which overlooks the city. In addition to many other monuments, churches and museums, that you cannot avoid to visit
