Montaione is located in the crossroads between the provinces of Florence, Siena and Pisa. This borgo is also crossed by the pilgrimage route Via Francigena.

It is an area rich in breathtaking landscapes and thermal springs.

The tradition of glass making in Tuscany has origins dating back to the medieval period. In the territory of Montaione, a document dating back to the year 1279, certifies the presence of furnaces for the manufacture of glasses and glass objects; many of these buildings have been converted into farms.

Montaione is also the city of the Truffle: every year between the end of October and the beginning of November takes place the "Tartufesta", a market exhibition that attracts many people from all over Italy and abroad.
